Our Story

Amir Malik Mosley was born August 12, 2001 on the west side of Chicago. From a young age, Amir’s favorite pastimes were basketball and socializing. He began to gain interest in the body and it’s functions which led him to the medical field. Amir attended Malcolm X college with the intentions of becoming an X Ray technician. One of his dreams was to become an entrepreneur with his own clothing line. Additionally, Amir was a giver and lover of all, especially his family and friends. On April 15, 2023, Amir was killed in the streets of Chicago leaving behind a huge community that loved and was blessed by his presence. In honor of the one year anniversary of his passing, Mirkat Impact Foundation was born to continue Amir’s legacy of nurturing the potential and creating a loving community. What was first seen as a tragedy, has now been turned into an opportunity to Awaken Minds & Inspire Resilience as Amir always did and always will.

mission

To equip at-risk youth with the resources, education, and mental health support necessary to create their own pathways to success. Through strategic partnerships and community engagement, we aim to foster a compassionate and inclusive environment where young individuals feel empowered to navigate life's challenges with resilience and optimism. With a focus on prevention, early intervention, and destigmatization, we strive to raise awareness and advocate for mental well-being, ensuring that no young person faces their struggles alone.

vision

To build a community where youth in the Chicagoland area can thrive, intentional deaths are eliminated, and every young person actively shapes the life they envision. Through our unwavering commitment to mental health awareness, we aspire to break down barriers, erase stigmas, and foster a culture of openness, empathy, and support for mental well-being.

values

  • Efficient and effective communication will enable youth to understand Mirkat Impact’s purpose and expectations of the youth and the organization.

  • In order for this community to thrive students must be safe, parents must feel like their children will be safe, and administrators should feel like they are in a safe work environment.

  • Mutual respect between admin and families is needed to ensure youth are comfortable acting on the advice they are given.

  • For youth to have a successful plan set up for them, admin must understand who that youth is as an individual versus what society deems a norm.

  • Mirkat Impact works to provide the support and resources necessary, so that each person who enters the program leaves as a better version of themselves.

  • Community is a direct value within Mirkat Impact’s mission. Building a community helps build trust and comfort as growth is fostered,

  • As the target audience is youth ages 10 -18, Mirkat Impact understands that youth learns best when they are enjoying the learning style and understand that there is balance between business and pleasure.

  • Mirkat Impact believes that creativity should be encouraged especially when it comes to the life people build. Being creative unlocks more of the brain and enables envisioned lives to become reality.

  • When working with youth, consistency and reliability are important for youth to have something stable in their life as they go through so many challenges and changes in day to day life.

  • Not only does Mirkat Impact expect admin to inspire youth, but also expect the youth to inspire each other through program alumni and high school students being a soundboard and transition mentor for the high school and middle school students, respectively.
